The Florida Department of Transportation identified 20 communities who would benefit from the construction of sound barrier walls
along the I-595 and Florida Turnpike corridors. As part of the I-595 Express Corridor Improvements project, a total of 13 sound
barrier walls will be built within the project limits. There are two types of sound barrier walls which construction crews will
use throughout the project: ground-mounted and shoulder-mounted. Construction of the nine ground-mounted sound barrier walls will
begin prior to the beginning of roadway construction. The shoulder-mounted sound barrier walls will be built throughout the course
of the project.
